OUR THEMATIC FOCUS AREAS
Our interventions are guided by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Comprehensive Refugee Response Framework (CRRF), the Uganda National Development Plan III (UNDP III), and The Refugee Transformation Agenda (RTA).
LIVELIHOOD
According to UNDP in 2023, about 733 million people faced hunger. Despite progress, 148 million children under age 5 suffered from stunting in 2022. If the current trends persist, one in five children under age 5 will be affected by stunting. Hi is committed to increasing access to healthy affordable food for the vulnerable communities.
The current high cost of living and food security crisis fueled by extreme climatic conditions impact everyone though not equally which we aim to address through our interventions tailored toward;
Land access, farming, value addition, market analysis, and access to financial services.
HEALTH
There has been progress in improving global health in recent years. While most health-related indicators are moving in the right direction globally, current trends are insufficient to meet targets set for 2030. Human integrity is committed to the attainment of these targets by designing interventions in;
SRHR
We aim to provide safe Reproductive and Sexual Health Education to teenage girls by addressing the cycle of silence and shame around women’s health education. Our interventions are geared towards; enhancing access to antenatal care, family planning, and post-abortion care.
HIV/AIDS & Hepatitis B Programming
The people most directly affected by HIV & Hepatitis B have been at the forefront of bridging the gap between essential health services and underserved groups, including people living with HIV and other marginalized populations. Our projects and programs are designed to end the scourge through enhancing access to self-test Kits, ARVs, Condoms, PrEP, PEP, and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Services (MHPSS).
WASH
Despite great progress, billions of people still lack access to safe drinking water. Achieving universal coverage by 2030 requires a substantial increase in the current global rate of progress that our WASH interventions are geared towards.
Nutrition
Children under age 5 suffer from stunting attributed to malnutrition and If the current trends persist, one in five children under age 5 will be affected by stunting. Hi is committed to increasing access to healthy and affordable food for children and mothers.
EDUCATION
Progress towards quality education has been slow since countries face challenges; inadequate education infrastructure, teacher shortages, and insufficient teacher training. Technology has expanded educational opportunities, but it has also widened inequalities. We design interventions to enhance access to quality education for vulnerable children through our school feeding programs, scholarships for the disadvantaged, WASH, and menstrual Hygiene.
ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
Poverty is a multidimensional challenge and if not addressed, 590 million people will still be living in extreme poverty and only one-third of the countries will have halved their national poverty by 2030.
As SDG 1 stipulates, eliminating poverty in all its forms is the key to unlocking all doors. Poverty steals dignity and hope, depriving women of improved standards of living and sustainable household income.
In 2023, poverty rates in poor countries surged with the number of additional individuals living on less than $ 3.65 a day reaching 165 million people.
Unlocking barriers to women’s economic inclusion, empowerment, and resilience is a cornerstone of transformative change in the quest for a more inclusive and sustainable world.
Women are paid less than men in the same jobs; they do most unpaid household and care work. It is time to set things right and build gender-equal economies.
Relatedly, women in developing countries are not fairly represented in economic decision-making. Strengthening their voices and participation is crucial in enhancing a more inclusive and equitable economy. Our interventions aim at ending poverty through;
Capacity building in enterprise management, vocational & digital skilling, financial Literacy, and granting seed Capital.
SGBV & PROTECTION
Hi strongly commits to addressing the root causes of violent extremism such as lack of opportunities, limited access to social services, exclusion and marginalization as well as hate speech.
Violence against women is surging with long-lasting global data showing that one in three women experience physical or sexual violence in her lifetime and that reflects only the reported cases. The whole world lags behind in its pursuit of gender equality by 2030. We are committed to changing biased norms, eliminating harmful practices, and abolishing discriminatory laws and policies.
Women and girls are bearing the brunt of the various forms of violence. And yet, women are at the forefront of fighting injustice, building peace, and securing their place at the decision-making table.
Our interventions are tailored towards ending VAWG and enhancing protection through;
Enhancing access to pro-bono legal services, capacity building paralegals, training para-counselors, and provision of friendly safe spaces.
